The market is never right and it is never wrong, it just is. My two golden rules in investing are to admit defeat when defeat presents itself and to not try to catch the top or bottom of any stock. By this I simply mean, don’t try to catch a falling knife before it hits the floor and to not short the balloon simply because you think that it will come back down. React when the blade begins to bounce and the balloon pops. As a trader, these rules aren’t like making sure you turn the lights out at night, meaning, they aren’t always that easy to follow.

An emotional trader is a bad trader. When a position goes out of favor and the stress, frustration and anger begins the engulf the body’s sensory, your judgment will not be clear and devastating reactions can be made. As a trader, you must realize that you will not be right 100% of the time and need to expect the occasional downside. The real goal however is to be right, more than you are wrong.
